Ecommerce recovery for Shopify stores on WhatsApp and email
Slide, by Synquic, connects to a Shopify store so that store events, from an abandoned checkout to order confirmation, cash on delivery, shipping and delivery, start WhatsApp and email automations to the customer. Shopify is the only supported store platform. Instagram is a discovery channel here, not a recovery one: Slide can answer product questions in a DM the shopper opened, but it cannot message a shopper first or more than 24 hours after their last message.

The buyer and the problem
Shopify merchants selling direct to consumers who want abandoned checkouts followed up, and buyers kept informed after they order, without someone sending each message by hand.
Shoppers leave at checkout, cash on delivery orders go out unconfirmed, and "where is my order" questions arrive because nobody told the customer it had shipped. Each of those is a message the store knows it should send, prompted by something that already happened in Shopify.

Abandoned checkout and cart triggers
An abandoned checkout in Shopify starts an automation. The abandoned cart trigger, for shoppers who never reached checkout, works only with Slide's storefront embed installed on the store.

Order confirmation, shipped and out for delivery events send updates. The "delivered" event fires when a fulfilment succeeds in Shopify, not when a courier confirms the delivery.
Source:Shopify guideCash on delivery confirmation
A cash on delivery event can ask the buyer to confirm or cancel. The reply arrives in Slide but does not change the Shopify order, so someone still has to act on cancellations in Shopify.
Source:Shopify guideAfter the first order
Review request, reorder, win-back, back-in-stock and price-drop events cover the weeks and months after a purchase.
Source:Shopify guideOrder answers from the AI agent
With the store connected, an AI agent can search orders and products to answer "where is my order" and product questions. AI steps depend on the plan.
Shopify revenue per email campaign
Email campaigns report Shopify revenue per campaign alongside opens and clicks. WhatsApp revenue is not shown in the dashboard, and there is no cross-channel attribution report.

One shopper, from abandoned checkout to delivered order
A Shopify store selling footwear connects WhatsApp and email to Slide. This is one shopper's path through its recovery and order flows.
- Trigger
The checkout is abandoned
A shopper who opted in to the store's WhatsApp messages earlier enters a phone number and email address at checkout, then leaves. Shopify's abandoned checkout event starts the store's recovery automation.
- Action
A reminder after a delay
After a delay, a condition checks the WhatsApp consent recorded on the shopper's contact, and the automation sends an approved template reminding them what they left behind. Shoppers without WhatsApp consent receive nothing from this flow.
- Customer interaction
A sizing question, answered
The shopper replies asking whether the shoe runs small. The reply opens the 24-hour window, and the AI agent answers from the size guide in its knowledge base. The shopper completes the order with cash on delivery.
- Qualification
The cash on delivery check
The cash on delivery event sends a confirmation request with two buttons. The shopper taps "Cancel" because they ordered the wrong colour.
- Human handoff
A person cancels it in Shopify
The reply does not change the Shopify order, so the flow ends in a handoff step that emails the operations team. They cancel the order in Shopify and reply in the same conversation to help with the right colour.
- Exception
If the shopper had asked to stop
Had the shopper replied with one of the store's opt-out keywords, Slide would have blocked the contact and skipped them on every channel. The keyword list starts empty, so the store added STOP and its other opt-out words before launch.
- Recorded outcome
Shipped, delivered, reviewed
The new order sends shipped and out for delivery updates, and "delivered" goes out when the fulfilment succeeds in Shopify. A review request follows later, and every automation run is logged step by step.

Launch sequence
Connect the store (Shopify guide) and, if you want cart recovery, install the storefront embed.
Pick two or three events to start with, such as abandoned checkout, order confirmation and shipped.
Write and submit a WhatsApp template for each event, and wait for Meta's approval.
Add your opt-out keywords; the list starts empty.
Decide who acts on cash on delivery cancellations in Shopify, and end that flow in a handoff to them.
Place a test order and abandon a test checkout, and check every message before you switch the flows on.
What these claims rest on
- Shopify events trigger WhatsApp and email automations, including abandoned checkout and order updates
About 20 store events: abandoned checkout and cart, order confirmation, cash on delivery, shipped, out for delivery, delivered (fulfilment succeeded), review request, win-back, reorder, back in stock and price drop. Shopify is the only supported store platform; the cart trigger needs the storefront embed. A cash-on-delivery confirm or cancel reply does not update the Shopify order.
- Cleanse Ayurveda runs post-purchase journeys after the order
Published setup: 4 automations live; the store connected so post-purchase guidance runs on WhatsApp, Instagram and email.
- Reporting covers WhatsApp delivery and reads, email opens and clicks, automation runs, and Shopify revenue
WhatsApp reports (sent, delivered, read, failed, cost), email campaign and sequence statistics, Instagram insights, per-run automation logs and Shopify revenue per email campaign. There is no cross-channel attribution report, and WhatsApp revenue is not shown in the dashboard.
- WhatsApp Business Platform charges per delivered template message, by category and recipient country
Per-message pricing replaced conversation pricing on 1 July 2025. Marketing, utility and authentication templates are charged at a rate set by the recipient's country calling code.
How the cost is made up
The Slide plan decides which features you have, including AI steps; plans and current prices are on the pricing page, and paid plans start with a 14-day trial. Workspaces created with an Indian number are billed in rupees, and all others in US dollars.
WhatsApp messages are charged per message by Meta and drawn from your wallet. The rate depends on the category Meta approves each template under (marketing, utility or authentication) and on the customer's country, so a template approved as marketing is charged at the marketing rate for that country. Since 1 October 2026 service replies to shoppers' questions are charged too, after the first 1,000 each month per number.
Email sends draw on the plan's email credits. The exact per-message WhatsApp price for your account is shown in the wallet.
When this fits, and what it does not do
A good fit when
- A Shopify store whose customers opted in to WhatsApp messages at checkout or elsewhere.
- Cash on delivery orders that need confirming before they ship.
- Repeated "where is my order" questions that a shipping update would have answered.
Needs a person when
- Cash on delivery cancellations, which a person must action in Shopify.
- Refunds, damaged goods and delivery disputes.
- A shopper who replies to a recovery message with a complaint.
Not established by this page
- Any recovery rate or revenue uplift: Slide publishes no measured outcomes for ecommerce recovery.
- How much revenue WhatsApp messages bring in: the dashboard reports Shopify revenue per email campaign, not per WhatsApp message.
- Where customer data is hosted. Ask the Slide team before you sign.
Direct answers
How does Slide recover abandoned Shopify checkouts?
Connect the store, and Shopify's abandoned checkout event starts an automation. Add a delay, check the shopper's consent with a condition, and send an approved WhatsApp template, or enrol the shopper in an email sequence, which carries an unsubscribe and skips unsubscribed addresses. If the shopper replies, the 24-hour window opens and the AI agent or your team can answer their questions before they buy.
Source:Shopify guideAutomation builder guideWhatsApp Business setup guideCampaigns guideAutomation builder guideWhat is the difference between the abandoned cart and abandoned checkout triggers?
Abandoned checkout fires when a shopper starts Shopify's checkout and leaves. Abandoned cart covers shoppers who added items but never reached checkout, and it works only with Slide's storefront embed installed on the store. Either way, a shopper can only be messaged if the store has their phone number or email address and, for WhatsApp, their opt-in.
Source:Shopify guideWhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (opens in a new tab)Does a cash on delivery confirmation update the order in Shopify?
No. The cash on delivery event can ask the buyer to confirm or cancel, and the reply arrives in Slide, but it does not change the Shopify order. End the flow in a handoff to whoever manages orders, or tag cancellations from the button reply so they are easy to find, and cancel the order in Shopify yourself.
Source:Shopify guideAutomation builder guideAutomation builder guideDoes the "delivered" message mean the courier delivered the parcel?
No. The delivered event fires when a fulfilment succeeds in Shopify, not when a carrier confirms delivery. If your fulfilment status can change before the parcel arrives, word that message as an update rather than a confirmation that the parcel is in the customer's hands.
Source:Shopify guideCan we send these messages by email as well?
Yes. Store events can send email as well as WhatsApp, from your own authenticated domain. One gap matters for marketing: an email sent by an automation step, including one started by a store event, adds no unsubscribe link and does not check the unsubscribe or suppression lists. Use it for order and delivery updates. Send marketing, such as a recovery reminder or a win-back offer, through an email sequence the automation enrols the shopper in, or as an email campaign to a segment; both carry an unsubscribe and skip unsubscribed and suppressed addresses.
Source:Shopify guideEmail channel setup guideCampaigns guideCampaigns guideCan Instagram recover abandoned carts?
No. Slide does not start Instagram conversations or send anything more than 24 hours after the person's last message, so it cannot follow up a shopper who left the store. Instagram's role is discovery: inside a DM the shopper opened, the AI agent can answer product questions from the connected store, and a comment-to-DM flow can reply to interest on a post.
Source:Meta: Instagram Messaging API (opens in a new tab)Instagram setup guideAutomation builder guideDo you support WooCommerce or other store platforms?
No. Shopify is the only store platform Slide connects to, and WooCommerce is not built. Webhook triggers and the public API can start automations from another system, but the Shopify store events described on this page would not be available.
Source:Shopify guideIntegrations guideAutomation builder guideAPI referenceHow do we measure what recovery brings in?
Email campaigns report Shopify revenue per campaign. WhatsApp reports show sent, delivered, read, failed and cost, but WhatsApp revenue is not shown in the dashboard and there is no cross-channel attribution report. Each automation run has a step-by-step log, so you can see which shoppers received which message and compare that with orders in Shopify.
Source:Campaigns guideDo we need consent to send recovery messages?
On WhatsApp, yes: Meta requires a customer's opt-in, naming your business, before you message them first, and opt-outs must be honoured on or off WhatsApp. Slide blocks a contact who opts out and skips them on every channel, but you add the opt-out keywords yourself. Marketing law differs by country, so check the market pages under locations.
Source:WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (opens in a new tab)Key facts: Ecommerce recovery with Slide
Slide is a reasonable fit for a Shopify store that wants abandoned checkouts, cash on delivery confirmations and order updates sent on WhatsApp and email from one place, with an AI agent answering order questions: the store events, templates, handoff and email campaigns are built. It is a weaker fit if you are not on Shopify, need a cash on delivery reply to update the order by itself, need WhatsApp revenue reporting, or want recovery messages on Instagram.
