WhatsApp, Instagram and email automation for businesses in Nigeria
Two things set Nigeria apart for a business using Slide. Under Meta's rules a WhatsApp business number with a +234 code cannot place calls to customers, although customers can still call it; and Nigeria's GAID 2025 requires consent for any direct marketing, with a record of that consent, on every channel. Slide automates WhatsApp, Instagram and email conversations for Nigerian businesses from one contact record, bills the workspace in US dollars, and charges WhatsApp messages to +234 numbers on Meta's Nigeria rate line.

The buyer and the problem
Businesses in Nigeria that handle customer enquiries, orders and follow-ups on WhatsApp, Instagram and email, and businesses elsewhere that message Nigerian customers.
Before committing, a Nigerian buyer needs straight answers on cost and law: how WhatsApp is priced when Meta has no naira rate card, whether the team can call customers back over WhatsApp, and how to show consent for a marketing message when the regulator expects a record of it.
WhatsApp in Nigeria
Meta prices messages to +234 numbers on a Nigeria rate line of its own, but publishes no naira rate card, and Slide bills Nigerian workspaces in US dollars. A business that earns in naira therefore pays for Slide in a foreign currency, and should confirm the payment method before it subscribes.
Calling is the clearest operational difference. WhatsApp business calling exists in Slide, but Meta does not let a business number with a Nigerian country code place calls. A customer can still call your +234 number on WhatsApp, and your team can answer or carry on in the chat, but nobody can call the customer back over WhatsApp. Design support flows so the customer calls you, or arrange callbacks on another channel.
The rest works as in any market: the shared inbox, menu bots, AI agents, Shopify order events and template campaigns. For more, see WhatsApp automation in Nigeria and the customer service workflow for Nigeria, which shows a support line that runs without outbound calls.
Instagram in Nigeria
No Nigeria-specific rule for Instagram messaging was verified for this page, so the platform rules are Meta's: replies only within 24 hours of the person's last message, one private reply per comment within 7 days, and nothing promotional under the human-agent tag, which Slide does not use. Slide sends no broadcast DMs and nothing after the window.
The Nigerian rule that does reach Instagram is about consent. GAID 2025 Article 18 requires consent for any direct marketing activity, whatever the channel, and section 36 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act lets a person object to direct marketing at any time. When a DM flow moves from answering a question to promoting something, or asks for an email address to market to later, ask for consent in the conversation and save the answer to a contact field so there is a record.
Email in Nigeria
Email marketing to Nigerian customers sits under the same GAID rule: consent before any direct marketing, a record of that consent under Article 17, and withdrawal that is as easy as giving consent. Once someone objects under section 36 of the NDPA, their data can no longer be used for direct marketing.
Slide's email campaigns and sequences include an unsubscribe and skip unsubscribed and suppressed addresses, which gives people an easy way out. Slide has no double opt-in and no contacts export, so the consent record is yours to keep: a contact field for the source and date, filled by the form or flow that collected the address. Do not send marketing through the automation "send email" step, which adds no unsubscribe and ignores the unsubscribe list.
What is specific to Nigeria
No outbound WhatsApp calls from +234 business numbers
Meta lists Nigeria among the countries whose business numbers cannot place WhatsApp calls. Customers can still call a Nigerian business number where the Cloud API is available, so inbound calls work and callbacks need another channel.

Messages to +234 numbers are priced on Meta's Nigeria line, where authentication rates were cut on 1 February and 1 April 2025. Meta publishes no NGN rate card, and Slide bills the workspace in US dollars.

GAID 2025 Article 18(1)(a) requires consent for any direct marketing activity, and Article 17 requires that consent be recorded and that withdrawing it be as easy as giving it. Slide has no double opt-in and no contacts export, so keep the record yourself, for example in a custom contact field holding the source and date of the opt-in.
Source:NDPC: GAID 2025 (opens in a new tab)Automation builder guideContacts guideThe right to object to direct marketing
Section 36 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 lets a person object to direct marketing at any time, after which their data must no longer be processed for it. On WhatsApp, add opt-out keywords so an objection blocks the contact: Slide skips blocked contacts on every channel, but the keyword list starts empty.

English is the language of government and business, and the Constitution provides for Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba in the National Assembly once arrangements are made. Slide's template editor has English but not Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba, so those languages work only as free-form replies inside the 24-hour window.

What these claims rest on
- Business-initiated WhatsApp calls are unavailable for business numbers in some countries
Meta lists countries where a business number cannot place calls: Nigerian, Egyptian, Canadian and US business numbers are on it; Kenyan and South African numbers are not. Customers can still call the business where the Cloud API is available. Calling needs a messaging limit of at least 2,000.
- Nigeria is its own WhatsApp pricing market; there is no NGN rate card
Messages to +234 numbers are priced on the Nigeria line. Authentication rates were cut on 1 February and 1 April 2025.
- Nigeria's GAID 2025 requires consent for direct marketing and records of that consent
Article 18(1)(a): consent is required for any direct marketing activity. Article 17(6)-(7): consent must be recorded, and withdrawing it must be as easy as giving it.
- Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 covers contact data, enforced by the NDPC
Act No. 37 of 2023. Section 36(3)-(4): a person may object to direct marketing at any time, and their data must then no longer be processed for it.
- English is Nigeria's language of government and business
National Assembly business is in English, and in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba once arrangements are made.
How the cost is made up
A workspace created with a +234 number is billed by Slide in US dollars; there is no naira billing. Current plans and prices are on the pricing page, and paid plans begin with a 14-day trial. Confirm the payment method, for the plan and for wallet top-ups, with the Slide team before you subscribe.
On top of the plan, Meta charges each WhatsApp message by category at the Nigeria rate, and Slide draws that from a prepaid wallet; if the wallet runs dry, sending stops. Since 1 October 2026 service replies count too, once a business number has used its first 1,000 free service messages in the month. Conversations that begin from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad are free for 72 hours when you reply within 24 hours.
Your wallet shows the exact per-message price for your account. Email uses the credits included with your plan, and a sequence waits rather than fails if they run out.
When this fits, and what it does not do
A good fit when
- Customers write to you on WhatsApp and the team needs one inbox and one contact record.
- You can keep a consent record for marketing, for example a field filled by your sign-up form.
- English templates are enough, with free-form replies in other languages inside the window.
Needs a person when
- Calling a customer back, which cannot happen over WhatsApp from a +234 business number.
- Objections to marketing and requests about personal data.
- Complaints and payment issues.
Not established by this page
- Whether a Nigerian card will be accepted. Confirm the payment method with the Slide team.

Direct answers
Does Slide have an office or team in Nigeria?
Synquic does not list an office, staff or a phone line in Nigeria, and this page claims none. Slide is sold online, and sign-up accepts Nigerian numbers like any other. Help comes by email, with a dedicated account manager on the top plans, and you can book a 30-minute demo. Support hours are not published, so ask how your working day will be covered.
Source:Slide pricingWhich currency will we pay in?
US dollars. A Slide workspace's currency is set at creation from the sign-up phone number: Indian numbers are billed in rupees and every other country, Nigeria included, in dollars. Meta has no naira rate card for WhatsApp either, so there is no local-currency price anywhere in the chain. Confirm the payment method with the Slide team before you subscribe.
Source:Billing and wallet guideMeta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Meta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Which languages can our messages use?
Templates, which you need once the 24-hour window closes, can be written in English in Slide's editor; Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba are not available there. Inside the window, your team and your bots can reply in any language. An AI agent replies in a language other than English only if its instructions say so, and the Slide dashboard is in English.
Source:Constitution of Nigeria, section 55 (opens in a new tab)Automation builder guideCan our team call customers on WhatsApp from a Nigerian number?
No. Meta lists Nigeria among the countries whose business numbers cannot place WhatsApp calls, so a +234 business number cannot call customers, from Slide or any other tool. Customers can still call your number on WhatsApp, and the conversation can continue in the chat. Meta also enables calling only for numbers with a messaging limit of at least 2,000.
Source:Meta: WhatsApp Business Calling (opens in a new tab)Can we automate Instagram DMs for Nigerian customers?
Yes, under Meta's global rules, since no Nigeria-specific rule for Instagram messaging was verified for this page: replies only within 24 hours of the person's last message, one private reply per comment within 7 days, and no broadcast DMs. Slide handles comment-to-DM, story replies, quick-reply questions and AI answers inside that window. If a DM flow moves into promotion, GAID Article 18 consent applies as on any channel, so ask in the chat and record the answer on the contact.
Source:Meta: Instagram Messaging API (opens in a new tab)Meta: Private replies (opens in a new tab)Instagram setup guideNDPC: GAID 2025 (opens in a new tab)What does Nigerian law require before we send marketing email?
Consent. GAID 2025 Article 18 requires it for any direct marketing activity, Article 17 requires a record of it and withdrawal as easy as giving it, and section 36 of the NDPA lets people object at any time. Send marketing through Slide's campaigns or sequences, which include an unsubscribe and skip unsubscribed and suppressed addresses, never through the automation "send email" step. Because Slide has no double opt-in, keep the consent source and date on each contact.
Source:NDPC: GAID 2025 (opens in a new tab)Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (opens in a new tab)Campaigns guideCampaigns guideAutomation builder guideHow should we keep consent records in Slide?
Create custom contact fields for the consent source, the date and the wording shown, and tag consenting contacts so campaigns go only to that segment. A WhatsApp bot can write a customer's answer straight to a field. Slide has no contacts export today, so if you need a record outside Slide as well, collect the opt-in with a Google Form, which keeps its own responses, and let the submission start the Slide flow.

Slide suits a Nigerian business whose customers already reach it on WhatsApp and Instagram, that is content with English templates, and that can keep its own consent records in contact fields. It is a weaker fit if the team depends on calling customers back over WhatsApp, needs Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba templates, or wants a built-in double opt-in and consent export.
