Meta Business Manager
Create the business portfolio that WhatsApp Business, Instagram and Meta Ads all depend on, then get it verified.
Meta Business Manager, often shortened to BM, is the account that owns your business assets on Meta: your Facebook Page, Instagram account, WhatsApp Business account and ad accounts. Every Meta based integration in Slide connects through it, so set this up first.
Meta renamed Business Manager to "business portfolio" in the Business Suite interface. They are the same thing. You may see either name depending on which screen you are on.
- 1Go to business.facebook.com and sign in with the personal Facebook account that will administer the business. Meta requires a personal profile to create a portfolio, it cannot be created from a Page alone.
- 2Select Create a business portfolio.
- 3Enter your business name exactly as it appears on your legal registration documents. A mismatch here is the most common cause of a failed verification later.
- 4Enter your name and the business email address you can receive mail on. Use a company domain address rather than a personal one.
- 5Confirm the email from the message Meta sends you.
Open Business settings, then Business info, and complete every field. Verification is checked against these values, so they must match your registration documents character for character.
| Field | What it must match |
|---|---|
| Legal business name | Your certificate of incorporation or equivalent registration |
| Address | The registered address on your documents, not a shipping address |
| Phone number | A number you can answer, Meta may call it during verification |
| Website | A live domain that shows your business name and contact details |
Verification lifts messaging limits and is required before a WhatsApp Business account can send at scale. Allow several business days.
- 1In Business settings, open Security Centre.
- 2Select Start verification.
- 3Choose your business from Meta's directory if it appears. If it does not, enter the details manually.
- 4Upload a document that proves the business exists and shows the legal name and address. A certificate of incorporation, business licence, tax registration or a recent utility bill in the business name are all accepted.
- 5Confirm ownership of the domain or phone number when prompted.
- 6Submit and wait. Meta emails the result, and Security Centre shows the current state.
The three details that cause most rejections: a business name that does not match the uploaded document, an address that differs from the registration, and a website that does not display the business name and a contact method. Fix those before submitting rather than after a rejection.
Anyone who needs to connect or manage an integration needs access. In Business settings, open People, invite them by email and grant admin access on the specific assets they will manage.
- Connect WhatsApp Business to start sending on a verified number.
- Connect Instagram to automate comments and direct messages.
- Connect Meta Ads to capture lead form submissions into Contacts.
