WhatsApp, Instagram and email automation for businesses in Kenya
Kenya's rules reach into the wording of each marketing message: the Data Protection (General) Regulations 2021 require a free, prominent way to stop in every one (a one-word reply for text messages, a link for email) and an option to opt out of all marketing. Slide automates WhatsApp, Instagram and email for businesses in Kenya from one contact record and bills the workspace in US dollars. WhatsApp messages to +254 numbers are charged on Meta's Rest of Africa rate line, since Kenya has no line of its own.

The buyer and the problem
Businesses in Kenya that sell to, support or follow up with customers over WhatsApp, Instagram and email, and businesses abroad that message Kenyan customers.
A Kenyan buyer needs three answers a feature list will not give: what a WhatsApp message to a +254 number costs when Kenya shares a rate line with other African countries, how to put the required opt-out into every marketing message, and what happens to customers who write in Swahili once the 24-hour window closes.
WhatsApp in Kenya
Meta prices Kenya in its Rest of Africa group rather than on a line of its own, and there is no Kenyan shilling rate card. Slide bills the workspace in US dollars and deducts per-message charges from a prepaid wallet, which shows what each message category costs your account for +254 numbers.
For marketing templates, write the opt-out into the message itself: a footer naming the single word to reply with, and saying that it stops all marketing. Then add that word to Slide's opt-out keywords, because the list starts empty. A reply with the keyword blocks the contact, and Slide skips a blocked contact on every channel, so one reply stops campaigns on WhatsApp, email and the rest alike.
Kenyan business numbers are not on Meta's list of numbers that cannot place WhatsApp calls, so calling is open to them once the number meets Meta's requirements, including a messaging limit of at least 2,000. The WhatsApp automation in Kenya page goes into setup and pricing in more depth.
Instagram in Kenya
Instagram works in Kenya as it does everywhere: Slide replies only within 24 hours of the person's last message, sends at most one private reply per comment within 7 days, and has no broadcast DMs. Comment-to-DM with keyword rules, story-reply and live-comment triggers, quick replies and an AI agent all run inside that window.
The Regulations' specific opt-out wording, the one-word reply and the email link, is written for text messages and email. The general rules still reach a DM that markets: section 37 of the Data Protection Act allows commercial use of personal data only with express consent or legal authority, and every direct marketing message needs a free way to stop. If a DM flow promotes something, say how to stop and record the person's consent on their contact.
Email in Kenya
Marketing email has the most specific rules of the three channels: the sender must not be disguised, the email must give a valid address for opting out, and the opt-out must be shown prominently as a link. Slide's email campaigns send from your own authenticated domain with one-click unsubscribe, and sequences add an unsubscribe line to every email by default.
Keep marketing email out of the automation "send email" step, which adds no unsubscribe link and ignores the unsubscribe list. Email automation in Kenya covers the setup in detail, including how to word the opt-out.
What is specific to Kenya
Priced in Meta's Rest of Africa group
Kenya (+254) has no WhatsApp rate line of its own and shares Meta's Rest of Africa line, and there is no KES rate card. Slide bills Kenyan workspaces in US dollars.

The Data Protection (General) Regulations 2021 require a free way to stop in every direct marketing message (regulation 15), a prominent statement of the opt-out, a one-word reply for text messages and a link for email, and an option to opt out of all direct marketing (regulation 17). Marketing email must not disguise the sender and must give a valid opt-out address.

Slide blocks a contact who sends an opt-out keyword and skips blocked contacts on every channel, but it ships with no keywords. Add the word your messages tell people to reply with before the first campaign goes out.
Swahili is official but not in the template editor
Kiswahili and English are Kenya's official languages, and Kiswahili is the national language. Slide's template editor has English but not Swahili, so templates go out in English; free-form replies inside the 24-hour window can be in Swahili.

Regulation 15(2): a free way to stop. Regulation 15(3): marketing email must not disguise the sender and must give a valid opt-out address. Regulation 17: each message states the opt-out prominently (a one-word reply for text messages, a link for email) and offers "opt out of all".

Kiswahili is the national language; Kiswahili and English are the official languages.
- Business-initiated WhatsApp calls are unavailable for business numbers in some countries
Meta lists countries where a business number cannot place calls: Nigerian, Egyptian, Canadian and US business numbers are on it; Kenyan and South African numbers are not. Customers can still call the business where the Cloud API is available. Calling needs a messaging limit of at least 2,000.
How the cost is made up
Slide bills workspaces created with a +254 number in US dollars, with plans and current prices on the pricing page and a 14-day trial on paid plans. There is no shilling billing. Confirm the payment method, for the plan and for wallet top-ups, with the Slide team before you subscribe.
WhatsApp is charged per message on top of the plan. Meta sets the price by category and by the recipient's country, which for Kenyan numbers means the Rest of Africa rate; Slide deducts it from a prepaid wallet and stops sending when the balance runs out. Since 1 October 2026 Meta charges for service replies inside the 24-hour window as well, after 1,000 free each month per business number.
Click-to-WhatsApp ad conversations are free for 72 hours when you reply within 24 hours, and the wallet shows the exact per-message price for your account. Email sends draw on your plan's email credits.

Direct answers
Does Slide have an office or team in Kenya?
No office, staff or phone line in Kenya is listed by Synquic, and none is claimed here. Slide is a web product made by Synquic, a company founded in India, and sold to businesses in any country. Support runs by email, with a dedicated account manager on the higher plans, and a 30-minute demo can be booked online. Support hours are not published, so ask how East Africa working hours will be covered.
Source:About SynquicSlide pricingWhich currency will we pay in?
US dollars. Slide has two billing currencies, rupees for workspaces created with an Indian phone number and dollars for every other, so a Kenyan workspace is billed in dollars. Meta does not publish a shilling rate card for WhatsApp either. Check the payment method with the Slide team before subscribing.
Source:Billing and wallet guideSlide pricingMeta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Which languages can our messages use?
Swahili is one of Kenya's two official languages but is not in Slide's template editor, so templates, which you need after the 24-hour window, are written in English. Inside the window, your team and bots can reply in Swahili or any other language, and an AI agent does so when its instructions say to. The Slide dashboard is in English.
Source:Constitution of Kenya, Article 7 (opens in a new tab)Automation builder guideHow do we include the opt-out Kenya requires in WhatsApp marketing?
Write it into the template: name the single word to reply with and say that it stops all marketing, since the Regulations ask for a free stop and an "opt out of all" option. Then add that word to Slide's opt-out keywords, because the list starts empty. A reply with the keyword blocks the contact, and Slide skips blocked contacts on every channel, including campaigns. Marketing also needs express consent under section 37, so send campaigns only to contacts tagged as consenting.

Yes. The Regulations' opt-out wording is written for text messages and email, so Instagram follows Meta's global rules and Slide's Instagram features unchanged: replies within 24 hours of the last message, one private reply per comment within 7 days, no broadcast DMs. Express consent under section 37 and a free way to stop still apply if a DM markets to someone. The Instagram automation overview describes the features.

An undisguised sender, a valid address for opting out, a prominent unsubscribe link and an option to opt out of all marketing, sent to people who gave express consent. Slide's campaigns send from your authenticated domain with one-click unsubscribe, and sequences add an unsubscribe line by default; the automation "send email" step adds neither and ignores the unsubscribe list. Meta does not list Kenya among the countries whose business numbers cannot place WhatsApp calls, so business-initiated calling is open to +254 numbers, subject to Meta's requirements such as a messaging limit of at least 2,000. Customers can also call your number. A call made for marketing rests on the same section 37 express-consent rule as a marketing message.

Slide fits a Kenyan business that wants WhatsApp, Instagram and email automation on one contact record, sends marketing only to people who consented, and is comfortable with English templates and Swahili replies inside the window. It is a weaker fit if you need Swahili templates, billing in shillings, or opt-out wording added to messages for you rather than written into your own templates.
