Messaging automation across the Middle East and North Africa
Slide, by Synquic, lets a business with customers in several Middle East and North Africa countries run WhatsApp, Instagram and email from one workspace, with one contact record per customer. MENA is not one market: Meta prices WhatsApp messages by each recipient's country, numbers in Iran and Syria cannot be reached through the platform, and every country applies its own data protection law. This site covers the UAE (with Dubai), Saudi Arabia and Qatar as MENA markets; Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are Sub-Saharan Africa, not MENA.

The buyer and the problem
Businesses that message customers in more than one Middle East or North Africa country, from a base inside the region or outside it, and want one automation setup to serve all of them.
A regional rollout looks like one project but behaves like several. One campaign to a mixed list is charged at different rates per message, the consent rule depends on each customer's country and on where the business is registered, and templates are needed in Arabic as well as English. A setup that treats the region as a single country gets the cost estimate and the consent records wrong.
WhatsApp across MENA
Meta prices each message by the recipient's country calling code. Within MENA, Egypt, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE each have their own line, other Middle East countries share a Rest of Middle East line, and Iraq, Kuwait, Oman and Morocco became separate markets on 1 October 2026. A broadcast to a regional list therefore has a mixed cost per message. Keeping each contact's country in a tag or custom field lets you split a campaign by market and estimate each part on its own.
Iran and Syria are on Meta's restricted list: businesses and users there cannot use or receive messages from the WhatsApp Business Platform, so those numbers cannot be reached through Slide or through any other tool built on that platform.
Templates, needed for anything sent outside the 24-hour window, can be submitted in Arabic and English, and Arabic is one of the 25 languages in Slide's template editor. Meta approves each template before it can be sent. Free-form replies inside the window can be in any language, and an AI agent replies in Arabic only when its instructions tell it to.
Slide includes WhatsApp business calling, but these pages do not promise it anywhere in the region: TDRA restricts unlicensed VoIP in the UAE, and how calls behave for consumers in Saudi Arabia and Qatar has not been verified. Market-by-market WhatsApp detail is on WhatsApp automation in MENA.
Instagram across MENA
Instagram messaging works the same way in every MENA country. A business can reply only within 24 hours of the person's last message, each comment allows one private reply within 7 days, and Meta does not charge per message as it does on WhatsApp. No region-wide rule specific to Instagram direct messages was found, so there is no MENA Instagram page; the general Instagram automation page applies.
Country law can still reach a DM. Qatar's guideline names social media among the channels for electronic direct marketing, so treat a promotional Instagram DM to someone in Qatar as within Article 22: prior consent, a named sender and a way to unsubscribe (see Qatar). In Slide, Instagram is reply-only: no broadcasts and nothing after the 24-hour window, so every automation starts from a comment, DM, story reply or live comment the person sent.
Email across MENA
Email has no regional rule either. Each country's data law covers the addresses you hold, and of the MENA markets on this site only Qatar has a verified written rule for electronic marketing that names email. The UAE's verified TDRA marketing rules are written for SMS, and Saudi email-marketing rules have not been verified here.
Whatever the country, send marketing email through Slide campaigns or sequences: they add an unsubscribe and skip unsubscribed, suppressed and bounced addresses. The automation "send email" step adds no unsubscribe link and does not check those lists, so keep it for transactional mail such as order and booking confirmations. The email automation page covers setup.
Running one setup for several countries
One workspace can hold customers from every country you sell in. Every channel writes to one contact record per person, matched on phone number first and email second, with tags, custom fields and a lifecycle stage on it. Use those fields for what varies by country: the market, the template language, and where and when consent was given.
Then plan the countries one by one inside that setup. Check each country's price line before a campaign, prepare Arabic and English versions of the templates you need, and confirm which consent rule applies to each segment. If you send one-time passwords to the UAE or Saudi Arabia from a business based elsewhere, at high volume, Meta charges a higher authentication-international rate for those countries.
What is specific to MENA
There is no single official list of MENA countries
The World Bank's Middle East and North Africa region groups 23 economies: the Gulf states, the Levant and North Africa, plus Afghanistan and Pakistan. Because no single official list exists, other sources draw the line differently. Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are Sub-Saharan Africa in the World Bank grouping, and this site treats them that way.

What these claims rest on
- There is no single official MENA list; the World Bank groups 23 economies in its Middle East and North Africa region
The World Bank region includes the Gulf states, the Levant and North Africa (and Afghanistan and Pakistan). Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are classed as Sub-Saharan Africa.
- In MENA, Meta prices Egypt, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE as separate markets
Other Middle East countries share a "Rest of Middle East" line, and several (Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Morocco) became separate markets on 1 October 2026. A regional campaign therefore has a mixed cost per message.
- Businesses and users in Iran and Syria cannot use or receive messages from the WhatsApp Business Platform
Iran and Syria are on Meta's restricted list, so contacts with those numbers cannot be reached through the platform.
- WhatsApp templates can be submitted in Arabic and English
Meta's supported template languages include Arabic (ar) and English (en).
- A higher authentication rate applies to some markets when the sender is based abroad and sends at high volume
The UAE, Saudi Arabia and India are on the list. The rate applies to businesses outside the country sending authentication templates at high volume (750,000 outside the service window in a rolling 30 days).
How the cost is made up
The Slide plan does not change by country: a workspace created with a number outside India is billed in US dollars (in rupees with an Indian number), whichever MENA countries your customers are in. Plans are on the pricing page, paid plans start with a 14-day trial, and the payment method should be confirmed with the Slide team before you subscribe. There is no billing in AED, SAR, QAR or another regional currency.
WhatsApp usage is the part that varies. Meta charges per delivered template message by category and by each recipient's country, and Slide draws it from the prepaid wallet; since 1 October 2026 service replies are charged too, after the first 1,000 each month per business number. For a regional list the cost per message is a blend of the lines above, and the wallet shows the exact per-message price for your account.
When this fits, and what it does not do
A good fit when
- Customers in several MENA countries that you want on one contact record and in one inbox.
- Order updates, reminders and campaigns that need Arabic and English templates.
- A team that is comfortable working in an English dashboard.
Needs a person when
- Deciding which country's consent rule applies to a contact, and recording it.
- Arabic conversations the AI agent was not instructed to handle.
- Complaints, refunds and anything that needs judgement.
Not established by this page
- Whether WhatsApp business calls connect to consumers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Qatar.
- Where customer data is hosted. Ask the Slide team before you sign.
- Local rules for MENA countries without a page on this site, beyond Meta's own.
Direct answers
Which countries count as MENA on this site?
There is no single official list. The World Bank's Middle East and North Africa region has 23 economies, from the Gulf states through the Levant to North Africa. This site has its own pages for three MENA countries, the UAE (with Dubai), Saudi Arabia and Qatar, because something verified changes there; customers elsewhere in the region are covered by this page and Meta's general rules. Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are not MENA countries and are grouped under Sub-Saharan Africa.
Source:World Bank: Country and lending groups (opens in a new tab)Can one WhatsApp number serve customers in several MENA countries?
Meta prices each message by the country of the number receiving it, not the country your business number belongs to, so customers in several countries can be messaged from the same number, each at their own country's rate. Every recipient must have opted in to hear from your business before you message them first. Numbers in Iran and Syria cannot be reached at all, because both are on Meta's restricted list.
Source:Meta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy (opens in a new tab)Meta: WhatsApp Business Platform support (opens in a new tab)How much does a regional WhatsApp campaign cost?
It depends on the mix of countries. Each message is charged at the rate for its recipient's country and its category, and inside MENA those rates come from several lines: six standalone markets, Rest of Middle East, and the four markets that split off on 1 October 2026. Slide shows the exact per-message price for your account in the wallet and draws charges from it. Conversations that start from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Page button are free for 72 hours when you reply within 24 hours.
Source:Meta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Meta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Meta: WhatsApp pricing (opens in a new tab)Can our messages and AI replies be in Arabic?
Yes for messages, with one condition for the AI. Templates can be written in Arabic in Slide's editor and are approved by Meta like any other, and free-form replies inside the 24-hour window can be in Arabic or any other language. An AI agent replies in Arabic only if its instructions say so, so write that into the agent and test it with Arabic questions. The Slide dashboard is in English, without a right-to-left layout.
Source:Meta: Template supported languages (opens in a new tab)Automation builder guideWhich data protection law applies when we message customers in several countries?
Each country has its own, and which ones reach a given contact depends on where your business is established and where the person is, which is a question for your adviser. In the countries on this site the laws are the UAE's PDPL (or a free-zone law such as DIFC's), Saudi Arabia's PDPL and Qatar's PDPPL. Slide does not certify that any setup meets them; it gives you the mechanics, such as WhatsApp opt-out keywords (the list starts empty), unsubscribe handling in email campaigns and sequences, and contact fields for recording consent.

No office, team or local phone number is claimed anywhere in the region. Sales and support are handled by email (sales@synquic.com) and a 30-minute product demo you can book, with email support on plans and a dedicated account manager on the top tiers. Support hours and support languages are not published, so if you need Arabic-speaking support, ask before you sign.
Source:Slide pricingWhich currency will we pay in?
US dollars, whichever MENA countries your customers are in, as long as the workspace is created with a phone number from outside India. Slide bills in rupees or dollars only, so Meta publishing AED and SAR rate cards does not add a regional currency to your Slide account. Confirm the payment method with the Slide team before you subscribe.

Slide is a reasonable fit for a business with customers in several MENA countries that wants WhatsApp, Instagram and email on one contact record, Arabic and English templates, and one inbox for a team that works in English. Plan each country separately inside it: the price line, the consent rule and the template language. It is a weaker fit if you need an Arabic dashboard, billing in a Gulf currency, WhatsApp calling to customers in the Gulf, or a local office to visit.
