WhatsApp customer service automation for businesses in the UAE
Slide, by Synquic, lets a business in the UAE answer routine WhatsApp support questions in Arabic or English with a menu bot and an AI agent that works from your own knowledge base, then assign anything that needs judgement to a teammate who reads Arabic. The agent answers in Arabic only when its instructions say so, and the Slide dashboard itself is in English. Since 1 October 2026 Meta charges service replies on the UAE rate line after 1,000 free each month per number, and Slide bills the workspace in US dollars.

The buyer and the problem
Support teams at businesses in the UAE (retail, property, travel, home services) whose customers write to one WhatsApp number in Arabic, English or both.
An Arabic message waits for the one colleague who reads it while English messages are answered first. Policies are kept in two languages that drift apart, replies vary with whoever is on shift, and a customer who asks to be called on WhatsApp may be offered something the business cannot rely on. Automation helps only if it answers in the language the customer chose and routes Arabic cases to someone who can close them.
Supported capabilities, mapped to the product
A language choice at the start of the chat
A two-button step lets the customer pick Arabic or English. The answer is written to a contact field, and the menu, the questions and the routing that follow can branch on it.
An AI agent that answers in Arabic when told to
The agent replies from a knowledge base you provide. It answers in Arabic only if its instructions say so, for example: "Reply in Arabic when the customer writes in Arabic or chose Arabic; otherwise reply in English. Keep product names and model numbers as written." AI steps depend on your plan.
Source:Automation builder guideRouting to a teammate who reads Arabic
A flow can assign the conversation to a named owner. In the shared inbox, teammates see who owns each chat, leave notes, and get an email when a handoff step brings them in.
Arabic and English templates after 24 hours
Arabic is in Slide's template editor and in Meta's supported template languages, so an update sent after the 24-hour window can go out in the language the customer chose, once Meta approves it.
Lookups in the systems you already use
The agent can use tools such as Shopify order and product search, HubSpot, Google Sheets and HTTP requests, so an answer about an order or a booking comes from your records rather than from memory.
A log of every automated step
Each automation run is logged step by step, and WhatsApp reports show sent, delivered, read, failed and cost, which is how you check whether Arabic and English conversations end in the same place.

An Arabic warranty question, answered and then handed to a bilingual teammate
An electronics retailer with stores in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah runs one WhatsApp support number for both languages. This is how one Arabic-language question moves through it.
- Trigger
The customer writes in Arabic
A customer sends "هل الضمان يشمل الشاشة؟" ("Does the warranty cover the screen?") about a phone bought three months earlier. The message opens a 24-hour service window.
- Customer interaction
Language first, then the menu
The bot replies with two buttons, "العربية" and "English". The customer taps Arabic, the choice is saved to a Language field on the contact, and the menu appears in Arabic: warranty, order status, store locations, talk to the team.
- Action
The agent answers from the warranty policy
The customer picks warranty. The AI agent, instructed to reply in Arabic to Arabic-speaking customers, explains from the policy in its knowledge base that the warranty covers manufacturing faults and that accidental damage is repaired at a charge.
- Human handoff
A dispute goes to a teammate who reads Arabic
The customer says the screen failed without a fall and taps "Talk to the team". A handoff step assigns the conversation to a bilingual teammate, with the language, the model and the complaint on the contact, and emails the team. The teammate reads the Arabic messages inside the English dashboard and replies in Arabic.
- Exception
If the customer asks for a call
The teammate does not offer a WhatsApp call: UAE rules restrict VoIP calling to licensed services, and whether WhatsApp business calls connect to UAE customers is unverified. The case continues in the chat, or the store calls from its ordinary phone line. If the next update comes after the window has closed, an approved Arabic utility template carries it, and free-form chat resumes once the customer replies.
- Recorded outcome
Recorded on the contact, in the language it happened in
The Arabic conversation, a "Warranty dispute" tag, the teammate's notes and the language preference stay on the customer's contact, so the next agent or teammate starts in Arabic without asking. The automation run log shows each step that fired.
An illustration of how the workflow runs, not a customer case study. Names, numbers and messages are examples.
What you need, and the launch sequence
Requirements
- Meta business portfolio and verification
Your UAE number sits in a Meta business portfolio, and Meta verifies the business before it can send at scale. Verification takes several business days, so start it first.
Source:Meta Business Manager guide - A support number not on the WhatsApp apps
The number cannot be registered on the WhatsApp consumer or Business app while connected to Slide; an existing Business-app account on it has to be deleted first.
Source:WhatsApp Business setup guide - Policies the agent can read, in both languages
Give the agent warranty, returns, delivery and store information. Arabic and English versions of each policy keep its answers consistent, and its instructions must state which language to reply in.
Source:Automation builder guide - Arabic and English utility templates
Updates sent after the 24-hour window need templates approved by Meta. Submit each one in both languages so the customer's choice can be honoured.

Routing only helps if an Arabic-reading teammate is assigned on every shift. Per-message charges come from a prepaid wallet, and sends stop when it runs out.

Launch sequence
Start Meta business verification and connect the support number (setup guide).
Build the language step and save the choice to a contact field (contacts), then build the Arabic and English menus in the automation builder.
Write the agent's instructions with an explicit language rule, load both versions of each policy, and test with Arabic, English and mixed messages.
Decide which teammates take Arabic conversations and set the handoff branches to assign to them.
Submit utility templates in Arabic and English, and add opt-out keywords in both languages; the list starts empty.
Remove any promise of WhatsApp calls from your website and auto-replies, top up the wallet, and publish the number.
What is specific to the UAE
Arabic is official, and Arabic templates are supported
Arabic is the UAE's official language and English is widely used in business. Meta accepts templates in Arabic and English, and Slide's editor offers both, so customers can receive post-window updates in the language they chose.
Source:UAE government portal: Fact sheet (opens in a new tab)Meta: Template supported languages (opens in a new tab)Your team works in an English interface
The Slide dashboard has no Arabic interface and no right-to-left layout. Messages appear as customers wrote them, in Arabic or English, but menus, labels and reports are in English, so teammates who read only Arabic will need support with the interface.
Do not promise WhatsApp calls
TDRA says making calls through third-party VoIP is illegal unless the service is licensed or approved. Meta does not list the UAE as unavailable for business calling, but whether WhatsApp business calls connect to UAE customers is unverified, so keep support in the chat or on your ordinary phone line.
Source:TDRA: FAQs (opens in a new tab)PDPL, and free zones with their own data law
Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021 requires consent for processing personal data, with exceptions, and sets conditions for transferring it abroad. Businesses in DIFC or ADGM follow their free zone's own law; DIFC entities notify the Commissioner of Data Protection when they process personal data. Ask the Slide team where data is hosted before you sign.

Messages to +971 numbers, in Dubai and every other emirate, are priced on the UAE rate line. Since 1 October 2026 Meta charges service replies at the utility rate after the first 1,000 each month per business number.

What these claims rest on
- WhatsApp templates can be submitted in Arabic and English
Meta's supported template languages include Arabic (ar) and English (en).
- UAE rules restrict VoIP calling to licensed or approved services
TDRA says using third-party VoIP to make calls is illegal unless the provider is licensed or approved. Meta does not list the UAE as unavailable for business calling, so whether WhatsApp business calls connect to UAE consumers is unverified.
- The UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021) requires consent for processing, with exceptions
In force since 2 January 2022 and overseen by the UAE Data Office. It sets conditions for transferring data abroad. Free zones with their own data law, such as DIFC and ADGM, are covered by those laws.
Official sourceChecked 11 October 2026UAE government portal: Data protection laws (opens in a new tab) - From 1 October 2026 Meta charges for service messages and for utility messages inside the 24-hour window
"Effective October 1, 2026, Meta will charge for service messages, which have not been charged since November 2024." Rates match utility and authentication rates for the market, with no volume tiers. Meta's main pricing page still shows the older "free" wording.
How the cost is made up
A workspace created with a UAE number is billed in US dollars; Slide has no AED billing. Plans and current prices are on the pricing page, paid plans include a 14-day trial, and AI steps depend on the plan. Confirm the payment method with the Slide team before you subscribe.
Meta charges per message by the recipient's country, and messages to +971 numbers use the UAE line. AED is one of Meta's rate-card currencies, but Slide bills a workspace outside India in US dollars, and the charges come from its prepaid wallet. Since 1 October 2026 service replies inside the 24-hour window are charged at the utility rate after 1,000 free each month per number, and utility templates inside the window are charged too. Messages customers send you are free.
For a bilingual line, cost follows the number of conversations, the replies each needs and the templates sent after the window. Replying once in the customer's chosen language, rather than sending every answer twice, keeps the count down. The exact per-message price for your account is shown in the wallet.
When this fits, and what it does not do
A good fit when
- Customers who write in Arabic and in English to the same number.
- Repeated questions with written answers: warranty, returns, delivery, store details.
- A team with at least one Arabic-reading teammate available on each shift.
Needs a person when
- Warranty disputes, refunds and complaints.
- Any customer who asks for a call.
- Questions the agent cannot answer from the knowledge base, in either language.
Not established by this page
- The quality of the agent's Arabic for your products: test it with your own questions before launch.
- Whether WhatsApp business calls connect to UAE customers.
- Where customer data is hosted. Ask the Slide team before you sign.
Direct answers
How can a UAE business run WhatsApp support in Arabic and English with Slide?
Connect your WhatsApp Business number, start each conversation with a language choice that is saved to the contact, and build Arabic and English menus for the questions you answer most. An AI agent answers the rest from your policies, in Arabic when its instructions say so, and a handoff assigns anything that needs judgement to a teammate who reads the customer's language.
Source:WhatsApp Business setup guideAutomation builder guideAutomation builder guideAutomation builder guideWill the AI agent reply in Arabic automatically?
No. Replying in the customer's language is not a platform setting; it depends on how the agent's instructions are written. State the rule plainly, for example "reply in Arabic when the customer writes in Arabic or chose Arabic, otherwise in English", and test it with Arabic, English and mixed messages before launch. AI steps depend on your plan.
Source:Automation builder guideWhich questions stay automated, and when does a teammate take over?
Keep automated what has a written answer: warranty terms, return windows, delivery times, store locations and order status from a connected store. Bring in a person for disputes, refunds, complaints, any request for a call, and anything the agent cannot answer from the knowledge base. The handoff step assigns the chat with the collected answers and emails the team; it does not keep automations paused, so end each branch there.
Source:Automation builder guideAutomation builder guideAutomation builder guideCan our team work in Arabic inside Slide?
Your team can read and write Arabic messages, and templates can be in Arabic, but the dashboard itself is in English with no right-to-left layout. In practice an Arabic-speaking teammate replies in Arabic inside an English interface. If some of your team read only Arabic, plan for that before launch.
Can customers call us on WhatsApp, or can we call them?
Do not build a support process around WhatsApp calls in the UAE. TDRA restricts VoIP calling to licensed or approved services, and whether WhatsApp business calls connect to UAE customers has not been verified. When a customer asks for a call, hand the chat to a teammate who continues in writing or rings from the business's ordinary phone line.
Source:TDRA: FAQs (opens in a new tab)Automation builder guideWhat do we need from Meta to connect a UAE number?
A Meta business portfolio, business verification (allow several business days), a number that is not registered on the WhatsApp consumer or Business app, and a display name that reflects the business. You connect through Meta's signup window inside Slide and keep ownership of the account and number. Templates in Arabic and English are approved by Meta, not by Slide.
Source:WhatsApp Business setup guideMeta Business Manager guideWhatsApp Business setup guideWhatsApp Business setup guideDoes anything change for a business in a Dubai free zone such as DIFC?
Pricing does not: +971 numbers use the UAE rate line wherever the business is. Data law can: DIFC and ADGM have their own data protection laws, and DIFC entities notify their Commissioner of Data Protection when they process personal data and must respect a person's right to object to direct marketing. Ask the Slide team where your data is hosted before you sign.

There is the Slide plan, billed in US dollars, and Meta's per-message charges, drawn from the wallet: since 1 October 2026 service replies on the UAE line are charged after 1,000 free each month per number. Setup time is mostly Meta verification and template approval. Synquic says it can migrate contacts and have a first automation live within one business day, outside those approvals.
Source:Billing and wallet guideMeta: Pricing for non-template messages (opens in a new tab)WhatsApp Business: FAQ (opens in a new tab)Meta Business Manager guideWhich systems can the agent look things up in?
Shopify (order and product search), HubSpot, Google Sheets and any system reachable by an HTTP request or the public API. Cal.com can book a given date and time, without an availability lookup. Zoho, Salesforce and Google Calendar are not built.
Source:Automation builder guideIntegrations guideIntegrations guideWhat should we measure after launch?
Track how many conversations close without a handoff in each language, how long Arabic handoffs wait compared with English ones, how many customers ask for a call, and the monthly spend in the wallet against the 1,000 free service replies. Slide reports WhatsApp sent, delivered, read, failed and cost, and logs each automation run.
Source:Campaigns guideWhatsApp Business: FAQ (opens in a new tab)Why might Slide fit a UAE support team, and what should we compare?
Slide combines a language-aware menu, an AI agent with your knowledge base, assignment to named teammates and Arabic templates. Compare it on whether the interface is available in Arabic (Slide's is English), how agents are told which language to use, how calling is handled in the UAE, where data is hosted under PDPL's transfer conditions, and which certifications are complete; Slide's SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001 are in progress. Support is by email and a bookable demo.
Source:Automation builder guideAutomation builder guideUAE government portal: Data protection laws (opens in a new tab)Slide pricingKey facts: WhatsApp automation for customer service in the UAE
Slide is a reasonable fit for a UAE business whose WhatsApp support mixes Arabic and English questions with written answers and whose team includes Arabic readers: the language step, an agent instructed to reply in Arabic, assignment to named teammates and Arabic templates are built. It is a weaker fit if your team needs an Arabic interface, if your support model depends on WhatsApp calls, or if you need data hosting confirmed in a particular country before you start.
